NeurIPS Creative AI Track Call for proposal Theme Celebrating Diversity NeurIPS has a tradition of featuring the artistic skills of machine learning researchers, which was evident in events such as the NeurIPS workshop banquet summaries in the 1990s and 2000s, as well as the parties that showcased bands of machine learning researchers and art exhibitions. Given the recent surge in the use of machine learning generative models for creative art, it is an opportune time to revive this tradition and provide researchers with a platform to exhibit their creative tools and artwork that leverages machine learning technology. For the first time this year, we are opening up various locations throughout the conference venue to showcase NeurIPS art. This will include hallway exhibits, designated spaces in the exhibit hall, screen time during breaks in the main conference room, as well as dedicated time and space during the reception and conference social events. We welcome all forms of art, including visual, language, musical, and performing arts, in order to celebrate the diversity of our community across gender, ethnicity, culture, affinity, and age. We are calling for proposals from ML research teams who are interested in showcasing their research work in the form of visual art such as pictures, paintings, media art, movies, sculptures, and installations, literary art such as short stories and poems, or performing arts such as staged theatrical work, dance, performed music, and happenings. Various groups of people were not welcome to join the club, least among them the middle class. As for the other groups, those from the race and religion sectors, well, the current membership need not be held to account for its past sins of omission, though the middle class still need not apply. It can’t afford it. For several decades, the club, among the wealthiest and most exclusive in the country, rejected overtures from the USGA, which coveted its North Course in the heart of Beverly Hills as a Open site. “Just once I would have liked to have had the Open experience that course,” former USGA President Sandy Tatum ruefully said 20 years ago. “It was an absolute marvelous test of golf.” Now, for the first time since the last USGA events were played there nearly 70 years ago, save for the smaller-scaled 2017 Walker Cup, the club is allowing the outside world in, with the Open to be played on its world-class North Course—16th on Golf Digest’s latest ranking of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses. The 22,000 tickets distributed each day will be the fewest in the modern history of the championship, and thanks to LACC’s verve for selling corporate hospitality the footprint being the largest in the event's 123-year history, approximately 14,000 fans will have access to the cushy confines of those venues—meaning there will be only about 8,000 of those from the “general public” to roam the grounds.
